From Selma to Stonewall– Local Movie Showing

June 15 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

The L-Word, Redwood Pride, Lavender Friends and Families, and the Humboldt County Library are sponsoring a showing of From Selma to Stonewall: Are we there yet? next Saturday.

Here is a little background for the 56 minute documentary from Truth in Progress’s Community Outreach Coordinator Rachel Salang:
“The documentary follows a black, non-LGBTQ retired pastor and Civil Rights foot soldier who marched in Selma in 1965 and a white, lesbian author and Queer activist. They start out exploring the similarities, differences, and conflicts between the Black Civil Rights and LGBTQ Equality movements, and find themselves in the midst of today’s struggles—hate crimes, police brutality, anti-LGBTQ religious hostility, and homeless Queer youth.”
For anyone interested in watching it and joining local community members in a post-viewing discussion about the film, the showing will be taking place in the Eureka library at 1313 3rd St, Eureka, next Saturday, June 15th, at 1pm.
